Renovation News

Construction News

As you can see, we are well underway with the construction here at Avenue Road Public School. The scheduled date for completion of the entire renovation is August of 2012.

Phase One (new classrooms to accommodate the Grade 7 and 8 students) of the new addition is scheduled to be completed by the end of this school year (new gym has an estimated completion date of January/February of 2012) and then
Phase Two  the focus will be on renovations inside the existing school. Major renovations will take place in the bathrooms, library, main office, old staffroom and then transforming room 10 into a JK/SK classroom to accommodate our All Day/Everyday JK/SK which starts in September of 2012.

You will also see there is quite a bit of work going on in the front of the school. New drainage pipes are being put in as well as electrical wires and fiber optics to accommodate the new addition. This will take some time but will be well worth the effort.

We thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Volunteer Opportunities

The staff and students at Avenue Road  appreciate all our volunteers.  It is a rewarding experience to be involved with the activities at your child's school.  We welcome any parents who would like to volunteer their time and talents to enhance your child's education and benefit our school.  A form will be going home with the September package for you to fill out if you would like to volunteer.  You can also contact the office and let us know your availability.  Thank you.

Special Events

We are off to a quick start after having our Meet the Teacher Night on September 15 along with a tasty BBQ.  Pizza Days also start on Friday, October 7 and will continue every Friday until the end of the school year. Students also have the chance of ordering chocolate or white milk each day starting
October 3.  You can order both through order forms that go home on a monthly basis or by simply going to the website www.remembermbermeinc.ca.

Our school choir has also been offered a wonderful opportunity to sing the Nation Anthem at a Kitchener Rangers Game on Friday, January 6 at 7:30. The Rangers play the Oshawa Generals. Students will be bussed (paid through School Council) to the game, receive a souvenir t-shirt to commemorate the evening and sing "O Canada". It should be a wonderful night. Parents are also able to order tickets. More information will follow later in the year.  Thanks to Mrs. Defrancesco, Ms. N. Morsink and Ms. K. Morsink for organizing this wonderful event and to the Kitchener Rangers for making this opportunity possible.
